DREAM DELTA RELEASES FIRST UPDATE TO 2026 ELECTION DASHBOARD
Delta, BC – DREAM Delta today released the first update to its DREAM Delta 2026 Election Dashboard, continuing its effort to provide Delta residents with a clear, concise comparison of where individual candidates stand on six issues identified by residents as important to the community's future.
The updated Dashboard includes one additional submission received prior to the July 3 deadline from Achieving For Delta council candidate Nick Kanakos. No changes or revisions were received from candidates who participated in the original June 20 release.
"We appreciate Mr. Kanakos taking the opportunity to participate," said Marilyn Murray, spokesperson for DREAM Delta. "The purpose of the Dashboard has always been to provide voters with a simple, consistent starting point for comparing candidate positions on issues that matter to Delta residents."
The Dashboard remains focused on individual candidates rather than political organizations or slate messaging. Every candidate received the same six questions, the same response options, and the same opportunity to participate.
DREAM Delta
acknowledged that the Dashboard has generated both strong support and
thoughtful criticism since its release.
"We have heard from many residents who appreciate having a concise visual comparison of candidates," Murray said. "We have also received constructive feedback regarding the methodology. We welcome those discussions because informed debate is healthy for our community."
Following the June 20 release, DREAM Delta invited all candidates who had not yet participated to submit responses for inclusion in today's update and gave participating candidates the opportunity to revise their responses.
Aside from Mr.
Kanakos' submission, no additional completed questionnaires or revisions were
received.
Despite repeated efforts by DREAM Delta to engage in constructive dialogue following the initial release, no completed individual candidate questionnaires were received from One Delta for inclusion in the updated Dashboard.
"Our goal has never been to tell residents how to vote," Murray said. "The Dashboard was never intended to replace debates, public forums, websites, or detailed policy discussions. It is simply a starting point that encourages voters to ask questions, engage with candidates, and make informed decisions."
"The greatest success of the Dashboard has been the conversation it has generated," Murray concluded. "Whether residents agree with our methodology or not, they are talking about the issues, asking candidates questions, and becoming more engaged in the democratic process. That is exactly what we hoped to achieve."
